Dwight ready to deliver big payback

in the FA Cup final? One player out seeking remuneration for two losses against their opponents this season, including a recent 5-1 hammering, is Dwight (Payback) Warren, Boulevard's crafty playmaker.

"I believe that we can pay them back,'' said Warren before a training session at Victor Scott School. "But the first thing is that we have to go out there and play aggressive. We need to play our game, not their game and I believe that we can repay them...by winning the Cup, hopefully.

"I think it will be a tremendous blessing and I'm just looking forward to the game and I'm sure my team-mates are as well. And once we have that mind set and desire to win the game, I think we can pull it through. It would be a glorious occasion.'' If Boulevard are successful in engaging themselves to the trophy it would be Warren's second marriage in a week, as he was recently betrothed.

A devout Seventh Day Adventist, Warren was asked what effect his faith had on his playing of the game.

"Prior to going out on field I have a prayer, like a personal devotion to the Lord and I feel that what really makes me go out there and enjoy the game better,'' replied Warren. "It allows me to be relaxed and to free up.

"A couple of the guys come and pray together and the influence has extended to where we all go out there and just feel good together.'' Widely considered to be the best player on the team, Warren has carried an extended burden with the exodus of several players prior to the season.

However, his shoulders have proven more than capable of handling this excess load and he has had one of his best years, scoring 10 goals, while creating numerous opportunities for his team-mates.

Said Warren: "Personally I feel that this has been a good season for me, but I still could be a lot better. Like my goal-scoring ability, that's where I feel I need to pick up on and have been lacking.

"As far as the Bascome brothers and others who have left the team they all have played a tremendous part as far as technical work is concerned and instilled in our minds a better understanding of the game, especially Andrew Bascome.

"Yes, they may have left and I guess we all felt it was sort of a burden on us to do well and to please our community. And I feel that we have done remarkably well.

"But we have pulled it together as a team, so everybody had that burden.''
