Elliott sixth in mouging
performance to date as a Category One semi-professional rider in France this year when he finished sixth in the Grand Prix of Mouging.
The 19-year-old, who represents the Cycling Club of Monaco, did well to place high among a prominent field of 130 starters during the 120-kilometre road race in France.
Hubbard said yesterday that it was easily his most gruelling race, one that saw him finished extremely exhausted after he was among a group of 10 riders who broke away from the field early and competed among themselves for the remainder of the route.
Hubbard and the 10-man pack broke away from the main group of riders as early as the five-kilometre mark and they remained relatively close for the next 115 kms with only four of them dropping off.
In the end Hubbard was left in the six-rider group, which finished two minutes ahead of the field.
Although Hubbard finished last in group of six it was easily his best performance and he showed a lot of courage by deciding to go out and challenge the pack who raced for the early lead.
During the race Hubbard's speed averaged approximately 25 mph.
