Forgesson leads locals in Big Apple
Sunday's New York City Marathon.
Forgesson finished 194th out of around 27,000 starters in one of the world's biggest road races after covering the 26.2 miles in two hours, 45 minutes, 49 seconds.
The 36-year-old Forgesson's time was more than three minutes quicker than he clocked in last year's event, but well outside his personal best.
Bermuda-based Frenchman Luc Laurent was the next best placed local resident, with a time of 2:50:03 which earned him 262nd.
Nearly three minutes and 70 places behind Laurent was 41-year-old Manuel Lopes, who bettered his time of last year by two minutes and finished an impressive 54th in his age group.
Those three were the only Bermuda residents to break the three-hour barrier, and the next best were Ricky Sousa (3:09:46), Geoffrey Blee (3:16:12) and Colin Swan (3:19:45).
The Island's top female finisher was 27-year-old Alexandra Reck, who clocked 3:42:17 and was the 568th woman to finish.
The next best females were Caroline Easton (4:06:56) and Sarah Gillespie (4:40:19).
The oldest Bermuda runner in the race was 63-year-old George Jones who bagged 522nd place in his age group with a time of 5:30:44.
Fifty-four year-old Peter Lever, who holds the fastest time run by a Bermuda resident -- 2:21 in Detroit more than 20 years ago -- finished in 3:32:21 for 264th place in his age group.
