Goater missed by fans
reception from the fans on Saturday as his former club remained winless in the league this season.
The match, which finished 2-2 after Rotherham had led 2-0, would be the last for co-managers Archie Gemmill and John McGovern who left the club by `mutual consent' on Monday.
Some Rotherham fans were reportedly not happy with Goater's departure, just months after winning the Auto Windscreens Shield at Wembley.
Goater's goals in the last two seasons had helped keep Rotherham in the Second Division, but in his absence they have not won a game in the league and have slumped to the bottom of the standings.
City, themselves, have not lived up to expectations so far, despite some new signings, and they face two important matches over the next few days.
Tonight they meet First Division leaders Bolton Wanderers in the first leg of their second round League Cup tie at home, with Goater looking to end a scoring slump.
Then on Saturday, City are at home again as Kyle Lightbourne's Walsall comes to town, no doubt boosted by their first league win of the season on Saturday.
Just two points separate the teams in the standings, with Walsall having a game in hand.
