Goater's goals pep talk
ultimatum'' to come up with the goals that will fire the Blues to Premiership safety.
City play relegation favourites Bradford today and Royle is demanding nothing less than victory.
Royle's men have been down at the bottom of the league for most of the season and much of the blame for that has been levelled at a shortage of goals from the frontmen.
The boss is likely to have four strikers in the squad for the game at Valley Parade and it is likely all will have a part to play at some stage.
Goater, Darren Huckerby, Paul Dickov and loan signing Egil Ostenstad have all had a meeting with Royle and have been told they have to deliver.
The manager described the get-together as a form of "gentle pressure.'' "It is very likely that all four will get some part of a game on Saturday,'' he said. "They accept the fact that we do need to start scoring goals. Call it gentle pressure, my chat certainly wasn't issued as an ultimatum but it might be a veiled one.'' Royle went on: "They are all different. Dicky (Dickov) has a fantastic workrate and has scored goals. Shaun has been our leading scorer for three seasons and looks capable of more goals.
"Egil is a very clinical finisher and might have to find a bit more of what the others do. Darren Huckerby has double rapid pace and gets beyond people, but now he has to start sticking the ball in the net.'' Royle has shown consistency in his selection of Goater and Huckerby up front in recent games, but Ostenstad may be brought into the starting 11.
Fellow loanee Andrei Kanchelskis may also be used to worry the Bradford defence.
"I have been consistent with Darren and Shaun so I am saying to them now we need the goals. Andrei has got better with games and he too is a goal threat,'' Royle said.
"Egil is a clinical finisher and he has shown us in training that he can find corners and tuck his chance away.
"I am happy with our hand of strikers, what they have to do now is justify that faith and start scoring the goals for us.''
