View will feature a battle between long-time rivals Kim Swan and Dwayne Pearman.

Swan brushed aside a spirited challenge from Keith R.F. Smith to win yesterday's semi-final 4 and 2 while defending champion Pearman just about worked up a sweat in scoring a comprehensive 7 and 6 triumph over David James.

Swan said he is looking forward to today's challenge with optimism, especially since it is one of the few tournaments that he hasn't won on the Island.

"I feel quite good going into final. I am playing steady, my game is getting better, it's not totally up to par but since I'm making birdies it means that I am creating opportunities ... and I am putting reasonably well. I think it will be a very interesting final,'' said Swan, who last played Pearman in match-play three years ago at Belmont.

He added: "This is a tournament I take seriously and I will be giving it my best shot. Dwayne's game is always steady. I think it will be a good final.'' Swan is optimistic because he, too, has been playing consistently in the past few weeks -- as indicated by his performance this week.

"My game has been steady all week. I have been par or better every day. I have been happy because I have been making birdies and tomorrow will tell it all when I clash with Dwayne,'' said Swan.

The two will be team-mates for the second straight year at the World Cup qualifying tournament in Jamaica in October.

In yesterday's semi-final Swan was sharp in a round that he regarded as being a "hot match.'' "Although I eventually won four and two, it was a hot match. There were ten birdies exchanged between us, with Keith having four. The match was closely contested, but I managed to get the better of things at the end.'' Today's 18-hole final gets underway at 8.30 a.m.
