Golf scholarships awarded
(Buster) Gibbons Golf Development Scholarships aimed at providing education which will lead to a career in the golfing industry.
Santucci, a former Warwick Academy student, plans to use her scholarship to continue studies in golf turf management. She currently attends Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in Tifton, Georgia and has been a trainee golf course superintendent for the Department of Works and Engineering at Government's three Bermuda courses, Port Royal, Ocean View and St.George's.
Tufts, who graduated from Saltus Grammar School, has entered his final year at Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan, where he is majoring in marketing and golf management.
Tufts, who also won the award last year, recently worked at the Doral Country Club in Miami, Florida as part of his cooperative work programme.
Santucci and Tufts must agree to work one year in the Bermuda golfing industry for every scholarship year awarded.
The scholarships have been named in honour of Buster Gibbons, acknowledging his 47 years of service at Castle Harbour.
