Grammar School athletes returned home Tuesday.
The soccer team finished the tour with five wins and a draw in six matches, while the basketball team won two and drew two to go along with one loss. The final matches took place on Monday.
Saltus erupted for three second-half goals to earn a 3-3 soccer draw with Lancing College of Brighton. Trailing 2-0, the Bermuda school roared back with two goals by captain Stephen Troake and one by John Barry Nusum. Nusum's shot at the buzzer gave Saltus a 47-47 tie in basketball against Worth School in Crawley.
GOLF GLF Showing the determination of a champion, Blake Marshall scraped into the quarter-finals of the Mid Ocean Club Men's Invitational with a narrow win yesterday in the junior championship.
Marshall edged American Dan Siegel one up to clinch a spot in the last eight, thus preserving his chance for a repeat triumph. Robert Vallis maintained his hopes, beating Ray Daue by a similar margin to advance. Among the seniors Dick Stimets eliminated a prime challenger when he beat back the challenge of Jack Wahl three and two.
