Griffin sounds golf warning

Pat Morgan when she fired a two-over par 73 in the qualifying round of the Bermuda Ladies Amateur Golf Championship at Mid Ocean Club yesterday.

As defending champion, Morgan wasn't required to play in the qualifying round.

Griffin, winner in 1992 and 1993, carded the best score of the day, two better than Lee Ann Vogel (75) who lost to Morgan in last year's final.

Joining Morgan, Griffin and Vogel in today's championship flight of eight will be Madeline Joell (80), Helen Stovell (83), Hannah Butlersteel (84) Bonnie Tyler (85) and Karin Gallin (86).

Just 13 players entered the championships.
