Heather Speck, riding Alibi, held onto the lead she obtained on the opening day of the FEI/Samsung International Show Jumping competition to win the
Heather Littlejohn held onto second place overall even though she slipped to a fourth-place finish on the final day after second and first place finishes in the first two rounds. Littlejohn ended with seven faults in a time of 237.24 seconds.
Junior rider Melissa Pereech, who has been selected to represent Bermuda in Puerto Rico next month, was third overall with the fastest time of the day, 203.11 seconds, but with 15 faults. Fourth was Frances Weddup with 16 faults and a total time of 246.97 seconds.
Heavy rain the day before the competition threatened to disrupt the event, but by Saturday morning the ring at the National Equestrian Centre was in perfect condition for the riders and many good rides were seen with three double clear rounds and three with only four faults.
Sunday morning's third round again saw good conditions but only one rider, winner Speck, had double clears.
There are 16 countries in the same category as Bermuda and final results in the overall worldwide competition will not be known until the end of the year.
VOLLEYBALL VOL The Bermuda Volleyball Association Summer League kicks off on April 13 and 15 at Bernard Park and all teams are requested to be at the park for a 5.45 p.m.

Anybody interested in playing in volleyball recreational games should be at Bernard Park on May 4 at 6 p.m. Games will be continuing on subsequent Tuesdays as interest from players warrants. There will be instruction and coaching provided to anyone interested and there is a $5 fee in order to play in the games. Male and female players are welcomed.

SOCCER SOC Consolation final results from the Bermuda Youth Soccer Cup on Thursday had Somerset defeating Hamilton Parish 4-0 in the under-12 division while the under-16 division match between visiting English side Millford and Devonshire Colts went to penalty kicks before a winner was decided.
After ending up tied at 2-2 the young Englishmen converted all five of their spot-kicks compared to four out of five for the local team.
SCHOOLS SP A group of 43 students and five staff members from Saltus Grammar School leave today for one of the largest, and most ambitious, sports tours to leave Bermuda for the UK.
Girls' teams will be joining the trip for the first time.
The groups will be based in the Hereford and Worcester areas during the first week where the boys and girls will play soccer, rugby, basketball, volleyball and netball. The girls will also play field hockey.
Saltus staff members Jon Beard, Richard Raistrick, Lesley Cherry, Dai Hermann-Smith and Lisa Wyatt will be tour leaders.
CRICKET CRI The Commercial Cricket League's annual meeting will be held on April 21 and the season is expected to start on May 2.
The AGM, to be held at the Department of Youth, Sport and Recreation, will begin at 5.30 p.m. and all teams are asked to send a club representative.
