Hood smash eight past Rams
title were comprehensively dismissed by current leaders Robin Hood on Saturday via an 8-1 shellacking.
In a tale of contrasting halves, Hood led just 1-0 at the break through a 42nd-minute Nic Snelling strike.
After the break Hood swamped Village, Snelling adding one more to his credit, while Jarlath McCabe netted twice, and Dave Wolffe, Alan Mooney and substitute Shane Brown added one apiece. Kenny Thompson scored late in consolation for Rams.
Likewise losing ground were Lobster Pot, who failed to take advantage of Rams' misfortune, MR Onions spoiling the party in running out 3-1 victors at White Hill Field.
Glenn Dunne gave Onions an early second-half lead, only for Jim McLaren to erase the deficit 10 minutes later and as time went on a draw seemed inevitable.
However, late on Onions' Chris Fleming stroked one over the line for a 2-1 edge. And a minute into injury time substitute Rael Coen added another for Onions.
BAA Wanderers, the dominant force of the 90s, enhanced their chances of a top-three finish with a 3-0 triumph over Tuff Dogs in what was a fierce battle, with the referee dishing out five yellow cards.
Goals on either side of the break by Dave Lawler and one from Paul Nicholson in the first proved enough to secure three crucial points for Wanderers over Tuff Dogs.
Other A matches saw Fire Service extinguish Devonshire Colts All-Stars 5-1 and Vasco Mariners draw 1-1 against PHC Raiders as Mike Maiato and Des Minors scored for Mariners and PHC respectively.
Key West continued their rampage through the B Division with a 6-2 thrashing of Pest Control at St. John's Field to all but confirm themselves as promoted.
Conversely, second placed Exiles saw their hopes of making the trip to the top tier dented as they fell 3-1 to St. George's All-Stars.
Somerset Extros succumbed to defeat against Prison Officers, going down 4-3 at Malabar. Millard Rawlins led the way for Officers with two goals, while Charlie Fox and M.Trott scored one each. Michael Bremar and Mike Corday (two) tallied for Extros.
In another west-end affair, Valley out-lasted Dockyard Falcons 5-4, with super-sub Kevin Isaac keying the comeback victory with two late strikes.
Falcons held a 4-3 lead after Anthony Burchall (two), Joe Pacheco and Mike Williams found the range to offset tallies from Roger Hall, Zane Bolin and Aaron Carmichael. However, the introduction of Isaac turned the tables in favour of the visitors, the lanky striker proving too much to handle for a fading defence.
The other match saw Mandy Thomas register a hat-trick during Wolves Pack's 7-3 peppering of Devonshire Lions. Assisting Thomas were Kirk DeShields, Paul Douglas, Daniel Stovell and Mickey Robinson, while C.Pitcher, Kevin Hodgson and S.McCallan scored for Lions.
