In the Gosling Cup knockout Nationals prevailed over Old Colony Club in a match between the top two teams in the First Division.
Captain Stephen Pantry made a 22-break in defeating Robert Gaglio in the first frame. Paul Charleton then put Nationals up by two as he hammered Phil Lambert 76-29 in making breaks of 25 and 22.
But the most stunning win for Nationals was the third frame featuring two former Bermuda champions. Terry Southern got off to a fast start against Tony DeSilva, making a 22-break and leading at one point by 38 points. Incredibly DeSilva came back with 16 and 15-breaks of his own and won on the pink ball.
Other Gosling Cup quarter-final winners were St. George's, Sandys Sports Club and Police.
St. George's, playing against Warwick II, split the first two games with Reginald (Honky) Burrows and Andy Peniston winning. Timmy Hayward then beat J.R. Robinson 46-23 to put St. George's in the lead. But it took a nail-biting 61-60 win by Ervin Hayward over Reuben Burchall in the fourth game to settle it.
Police were 3-2 winners over Warwick I with Tim Carr scoring a 63-30 victory over Hilgrove Iris in the fifth frame. Gordon Harris and Andy Wright also won for Police with Warwick getting their wins from Dennis Eve and Steve Dunleavy.
Ed Gumbs started Queens II off with a 60-35 win over Timmy Pedro but Sandys picked up the next three games in one-sided games. It was David DeSilva over Simon Waite 52-10, Roger (Sticks) Henderson over Cory Powell 70-25 and Zane DeSilva finishing things up by beating Chris Dakin 86-28.
The draw for the semifinals to be played on February 3 has Nationals hosting Sandys and Police at home to St. George's.

BOWLING BOW Few changes were made in positions in latest Mixed Classic League action as Pro Staff, Bermuda Glass and Amflites remained one, two and three in the standings.
Bermuda Glass, eight points behind the leaders, were led by Doug Hines' top series 657 in a 16-4 result against Four Star Pizza. Marie Frith tried polishing the Stars with the women's third high series 540 in a losing cause.
Leaders Pro Staff were paced by Bobbie Ingham's 538 series, which just missed the honour roll. For Get Together, Dudley Browne tried leading the team to a bigger share of the points with a 504 series.
Pat Ming-Albuoy led Us Until's march on Perfect Combination as she topped the women's honours list for the season with a 636 series and 257 game in a 111 -81 win.
The Combo's effort was spearheaded by Donna Amaral's second high series 566 and third game of 201 with team-mate Eddie Bardgett adding the men's third series and game of 572 and 224 in a losing cause.
Flagler Street Gang pulled out the stops against East End Asphalt with Miles Smith at the lead with the men's second high series 603 and top game of 225.
Asphalt could not get it together and were led by Carlos Estravit's 525 series in a losing cause.
Amplites beat Terrible Four 15-5 as Hank Corrado had a 567 series and shared the top game of 225. Rosesheene Ottley was tops for Terrible Four with the second high game honours of 202.
POOL POO Dennis Parsons made 46 points to lead undefeated Swinging Doors to a 198-171 win over Queens Club.
Swinging Doors are now two games clear of second-placed Hamilton Parish while Queens' record fell to 4-4. Trevor (Kidd) Mouchette was high scorer for Queens with 44 points.
Hamilton Parish stayed in the hunt by beating third-placed Vasco 196-169, led by Richard Foggo's perfect 50. Gaspar Oliveira was the only Vasco player to crack 40 points, making 41.
Sandys Boat Club edged Mariners 199-173 for only their second win of the season. Both teams are now 2-6.
Mariners' Gavin Corcoran nearly made his team's first 50. He won his first four games but in the last game of the match Craig Young put a 10-0 whitewash on him. Mike Tatem led Sandys with 45 points, losing only to Corcoran.
TARGET SHOOTING SHO James Rego, Nelson Simons and Sinclair Raynor were the joint winners of Wednesday's shoot at the Prospect Range after scores of 192. Anthony Rabain was fourth on 190.
