Jennings' strike fires Red Devils into another final
North Village earned a second final spot as a spectacular second half winner from the boot of Kevin Jennings sent them through to the Friendship Trophy final at the expense of PHC at Devonshire Rec. last night.
Jennings, who guided the Red Devils into the FA Cup final with a dramatic late winner, did the job again in sensational fashion, although even he would agree that Lady Luck had much to do with the score.
Planted some 40 yards deep next to the right touch-line, Jennings appeared to launch a cross for striker Damon Wade. However, unveiled in his effort was something much more effective and decisive, the ball curling and dipping over the head of bewildered PHC goalkeeper Carlyle Crockwell, and eventually nestling in off the far post.
That goal knocked the stuffing out of the Zebras, who had to that point matched North Village in every quarter.
It was PHC who seized the early initiative and went ahead in the 15th minute, as Raynel Lightbourne earned a penalty after he was pulled down by Village 'keeper Zane Hendrickson.
Lightbourne rose from the turf to plant the spot kick into the low-left corner, despite Hendrickson getting his fingertips to the ball.
Hendrickson had to be alert to see away two terrific drives from Shawn Russell, while at the other end Crockwell was at his brilliant best in tipping over a goal-bound drive from Wade.
Wade later exacted revenge in notching the equaliser 10 minutes after the break, as a Jawan Thomas cross totally eluded PHC's defence, but not the boot of the resurgent striker.
Village now face Dandy Town in what shapes up as an intriguing final.

St. David's 4 Paget 2 St. David's steamrolled into the final of the Shield competition, dismantling Paget for the second time in three days.
Much as they did on Sunday, the Islanders found Paget's defence something of a sieve, penetrating at will as the Ord Road men self-destructed. To their credit they ultimately fought back, but by such time they had created too much of a mountain to climb.
Angelo Cannonier gave St. David's a 27th minute lead and this was doubled on the stroke of half-time when Otis Minors got the first of his two goals.
Minors notched the second three minutes following the break and Kevin Lambe made it 4-0 with a 52nd minute strike.
Jermayn Pond pulled one back for Paget after 75 minutes and Dennis Russell later converted from the spot, but that would be the closest they would come.
Paget ended the affair with just 10 men on the pitch as Kevin Smith got an early shower, after throwing a punch at a member of the opposition.
St. David's are now set for a final clash against Somerset Eagles.
