Top seed in the Under-10s, Kariem Sharrieff, defeated unseeded Gavin Manders 10-6 in an exciting match which featured long rallies with some solid serving and volleying by Sharrieff.

Sharrieff roared back from a 3-6 deficit to win seven straight games to win the match.

In other matches yesterday Hugo Stenbeck beat Nathan Samuels 7-5, 6-2 in the Under-16s while John Hindess topped Ben Dier 6-4, 6-1 and Joel Duffy overpowered Khari Thornhill 6-1, 6-2 in the Under-14s.

In two consolation matches Machel Charles defeated Trey Swan 10-6 in the Under-12 division while Max Stenbeck walloped Shaun Swan 10-2 in the Under-10s.

Ben Dier and Ethan Branum defeated Michael Higginbottom and Alexander Melvin 6-2, 6-4 in Under-14 doubles action.

In the girls Under-14 division Danielle Paynter continued her winning ways with a 6-1, 6-0 triumph over Crystal Lambert.
