Smith came home in 40 minutes and 16 seconds, with Tucker finishing in 42:05, five seconds ahead of Brett Forgesson.

Anna Eatherley was almost as convincing a winner in the women's division finishing more than one-and-a-half minutes ahead of the second-placed woman Lynn Kynoch.

Eatherley finished 25th overall in 48:42, with Kynoch completing the course in 50:28. Christine Campbell was third in 55:19.

Eddie Davis, who finished seventh overall, took men's masters honours in 44:02, while Debby Graham was first female master in 1:03:00.

The first senior master was Manfred Jung in 52:59, while junior winner was Kris Hedges in 54:45.

Vernon Tankard and Edwina Arorash took the honours among the members of Swan's Running Club.
