Kenerson, Mylrea win play-off
tournament yesterday on a sudden-death play-off at Mid Ocean Club.
Mylrea and Kenerson shot a final-round net 64 but found themselves level on 263 for 72 holes with Ed and Tom Ryan after the latter pair shot an astonishing 59 yesterday to move up from joint eighth.
The Ryans' one-day performance was by far the best of the tournament but Mylrea and Kenerson were rewarded for their consistency -- they were top of the leader board at the end of three of the four days -- by clinching the championship on the first play-off hole.
A stroke back on 264 were third-round co-leaders Herb Kloock and Robert Shields after shooting 65.
Past winners Charlie Hartnett and William McCall finished fourth on 267 with George Stevens and Bruce Beagley, and E.McLaughlin and Donald Bauer joint fifth on 268.
The gross title was won by Thomas Wall and James Taylor who shot a 67 yesterday to finish on 284 for a four-stroke win over Bermuda's Michael Dunkley and American Paul Evans.
Dick Stimets and Richard Weller were third on 289 with Kirk Kitson and Charles Holden fourth (291), Hartnett and McCall fifth (296), and E. Malcolm Gosling and Jim Murray sixth (298).
