Kyme reaches last four
college squash tournament at the weekend.
Competing in the NISRA College Individual Championships in the US, Kyme, representing Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut, went down 3-1 to eventual winner David Yik of Princeton.
Kyme won 3-1 and 3-0 in the earlier rounds to reach the semis but lost to Yik, who succeeded his brother, Peter, as Men's College Champion.
Despite the loss, Kyme can look back on a successful year's play.
He has moved up the rankings within the Trinity team, who wrapped up the regular season national championship at the end of last month with a 6-3 win over Harvard University Crimson.
The college was ranked number one every week of the season, as it has been in the past two years, and boasts a 52-match winning streak.
The Bantams, under coach Paul Assaiante, captured the previous two team championships and Kyme, in just his second season, has emerged as one of their top players.
"I'm playing very well right now. I don't think I have ever played better in my life,'' said Kyme, speaking from Hartford, where he is currently snowed in.
The 20-year-old put much of his success down to help and advice from both Bermuda Squash Racquet's Association director of squash, Ross Triffitt and college coaching staff.
