Ladies take aim at title in Jamaica

Some of Bermuda's leading lady golfers are in the Caribbean this week where they will take part in the annual Kitty Michael Invitation tournament, which this year celebrates its 21st anniversary.

Bermuda, who finished second in the gross division last year and are former overall winners, have been competing since the inaugural event.

The 1999 edition takes place at the Breezes Golf and Country Club in Runaway Bay, Jamaica, starting tomorrow and continuing until Saturday. Teams from the Caribbean as well as New Jersey, Florida and Canada will take part.

Meanwhile, the Bermuda Men's Seniors Championship over 54 holes gets underway tomorrow morning at Riddell's Bay with the ladies championship, over 36 holes, following a day later.

American Clark MacKenzie will defend his men's crown in a solid field of 39 players which includes four other overseas golfers.

The ladies' field of 21 will be missing defending champion Diana Diel who is with the team in Jamaica.
