12-ounce Greater Amberjack which he caught on August 16 last year on an 80-pound test line has been confirmed as a world record, tying another Bermudian, Mr. Joe Dawson's, record catch in June, 1981.
Mr. Trott's catch was weighed by International Game Fish Association Bermuda representative Mr. Tom Smith in Somerset as Mr. Trott has been anxiously awaiting news from IGFA headquarters in Florida.
Mr. Smith advised the length of time between catch and confirmation was much longer than usual. "I'm am sure that Larry feels it was well worth waiting for,'' he added.
Many former world records have been made in Bermuda waters and current world records stand at 37.
