North Village pair in late night car smash
North Village's championship charge suffered a second setback just hours after the team went down to a dramatic 3-0 league defeat.
The Red Devils were comprehensively beaten by Devonshire Colts at Bernard Park on Sunday and slipped from second to third in the standings.
But worse was to come later that night when a car being driven by Keith Jennings and ferrying team-mate Neil (Diamond) Robinson was involved in an accident.
Jennings escaped serious injury but Robinson suffered a serious neck injury and had to be treated at hospital after the incident on North Shore Road.
A Bermuda police spokeswoman said: "We got the call and police responded just after 11.00 p.m. Sunday evening.
"It was a single vehicle road traffic accident, involving a car. The car was travelling west along North Shore Road when the driver apparently lost control and collided with the guard railing causing the car to flip over.
"The driver received scratches, the passenger in the car received lacerations to his leg and two suspected fractures of the neck vertebrae.'' The spokeswoman said the accident was being investigated.
Both players are attacking midfielders and each has played a big part in North Village's season so far.
Jennings is a former member of the Bermuda Under-23 team and joined the club at the start of the season, while Robinson is one of the most experienced players on the Island.
If Jennings' injuries do not prevent him from training he could well be available for selection for Friday night's clash with Wolves at Devonshire Rec.
Robinson, on the other hand, could face a lengthy lay-off depending on the extent of his injuries.
It is believed he was only released from hospital yesterday so he will almost definitely be ruled out of the forthcoming game.
With the season drawing to a close, Village need as many players available as possible if they are to continue to challenge Colts and league leaders Dandy Town for the title. They currently lie one point behind Colts and three behind Town, all sides having played 10 games.
