Parish go top in alliance group B
following the Christmas break and saw one lead change with Hamilton Parish taking over the top spot in Group B of the Alliance Division.
Parish unloaded against Prospect, pummelling their opponents 5-3 and now have 14 points from eight matches, two more than previous leaders Devonshire Colts who were idle.
Doing the damage for the victors were Albert Wolfe, who scored twice, along with Quinn Outerbridge, Elton Caisey and Gerald Place -- one each. Dwayne Leverock (two) and Terry Thomas replied for Prospect.
In other Group B action, St. David's defeated BAA 2-0 on strikes by Maxwell Dill and Albert Steede, and Southampton Rangers won by forfeit over Port Royal.
Meanwhile, PHC find their status as leaders in Group A growing increasingly tenuous.
The Zebras were upended 5-3 by North Village and are now just a single point ahead of second-placed Dandy Town, who had little difficulty in their match, handing St. George's a 6-3 thrashing.
For Village, Sean Dill, Rahji Edness, Cymande Davis, and Tito and Jamal Smith all netted once to offset tallies by PHC's Mark Smith, Jason Raynor and Gavin Simmons.
Carlos Smith carried Town to victory as he found the back of the net on two occasions and was assisted by Lionel Furbert, Michael Wells, Walter Musson and Lionel Cann. For St. George's, Princely Fubler, Del Tyrell and Greg Foggo found the range.
A battle of the cellar dwellers saw Boulevard get by Devonshire Cougars 3-1 with Danny Rogers, Vernon Symonds and Michael Sabeeney doing the damage.
Dwayne Bean replied for Cougars.
Significant moves in the Commercial Division were made by Spinning Wheel and North Village Rams.
The former handed Lobster Pot their sixth league defeat by a 2-1 margin allowing themselves to jump three places to fifth in Group A and a 3-3 draw by the latter against Coca-Cola gave them sole possession of first place in Group B.
Chris Furbert and Brandon Robinson led the Wheel resurgence while Simon Turner was the lone bright spark, scoring for Pot, who now find themselves last in Group A.
Another club headed south are Island Rangers. The west-enders found BAA Wanderers too steep a mountain to climb as they were duly turned back 5-3, this after leading 2-1 at the half.
Troy Berkeley (two) and Keith Bremar gave Rangers hope early on with scores but this was snuffed out by four off the boot of Wanderers' Tony Lambert and an own goal.
Robin Hood extinguished Fire Services 3-1 as Colin McQueen, Nigel Goodland and Colin Alexander all found paydirt. Steven Caines was Services' lone marksman.
The day's biggest surprise occurred when KPMG Peat Marwick upset second-place Forties 2-1. Heroes for KPMG were Rob Newman and John Ingham. Brian Fubler notched a goal for Forties.
In Group B, Rams needed two goals from Ralph Bean and one from Kevin Bean-Walls to hold off Coke.
Millard Rawlins doubled up for Coke with Anthony Francis contributing the other tally.
Somerset Extros sprinted out to a 4-0 first-half lead against a nine-man Prison Officers outfit before the effects of a celebratory New Year began to show. However, they managed to hold on in the second for a 4-2 win.
Jerry Lynn Simons scored twice and Larry Hunt and George Brangman one apiece for Extros. Clarence Dill and Ricky Smith responded for the Officers.
One final clash witnessed Devonshire Colts All-Stars hammering St. George's All-Stars 4-2. Sean Belton (two), Kevin Bean and skipper Sandy Thomas sent Devonshire on their way as St. George's could only muster two strikes by Freddie Hall and Wendell Smith.
