Pearman stays on course for repeat

the Bermuda PGA Lobster Pot Matchplay championship yesterday when he used his familiarity with his former home course at Port Royal to defeat Steven DeCosta three and two in their quarter-final match.

And with three-time winner Cornell Bean also moving into the semifinals following his four and three win over Phillip Pitcher, there is a good chance of a repeat of last year's final which saw Pearman win four and three to end Bean's three year reign. In the past few years Bean has become the island's best match player.

In other matches yesterday, Keith Smith stopped Eardley Jones three and two and Lloyd James got by Kenny Leseur at the 19th hole.

Today's semifinal matches will see Pearman facing James and Smith squaring off against Bean. The winners will meet in the 36 hole final tomorrow.
