More than 850 children entered the various events put on at Police Field, with 520 hardy souls managing to finish, including three who set new course records.

Ryan Hopkins smashed the Boys 8-9 mile record, eclipsing by two seconds the 1995 mark of five minutes, 57 seconds held by Shane Morrissey. The St.

George's Prep student excelled in the wet conditions on a course that ran through the nearby Arboretum.

Ravoshia Whaley likewise skimmed a second off Monique Simons' six-year-old mark of 3:22 over a half-mile, clocking 3:21.

Meanwhile, Trey Simons managed 3:03 over the same distance to better the 3:04 registered by Terron Christopher last year.

Other age group winners included Shuntae Hendrickson of Prospect (1:47) and Southampton Glebe's Kwasi Wade (1:40) in the Girls and Boys 4-5 respectively, which covered a quarter-mile, Prospect's Charlene Grant (6:38) in the Girls 8-9, Purvis' Shellicia McKenzie (9:53) and Kor-Von Tucker of Spice Valley (9:00) in the Girls and Boys 10-12, covering one and a half miles.

The top school was West End Primary with three victories, taking the Girls 4-5, Boys 4-5 amd Girls 6-7 categories.
