Rangers open challenge to Rec.

match against Southampton Rangers, seeking to extend their winning run for the season to four matches.

Rec., along with Bailey's Bay, top the Gold Division of the limited-overs competition with three wins. This match against a winless Southampton promises to be an interesting one as Rangers aim to pick up their first win of the season.

Rangers are playing better than their results suggest, having gone down to St.

David's and Police in matches that could have gone either way. One plus for them is the batting form of all-rounder Clevie Wade who has had knocks of 64, 45 and 39 so far. He has also performed well with the ball, taking two wickets in each of the three matches.

He and his team-mates will need to be at their best in all departments to stop a strong Devonshire Rec. side who are favoured to defend the title they won last year. Already two batsmen, captain Anthony Amory and Albert Steede, have scored centuries and tomorrow's clash could be another high-scoring affair.

Two other interesting matches tomorrow see Cleveland hosting St. David's at Sea Breeze Oval and winless Nationals in their home opener against a Hamilton Parish team they have already meet in the limited-overs competition.

The Cleveland-St. David's match could go either way, though the Islanders should be favoured to make it four wins in a row. St. David's opener Allen Richardson is striking form, adding a knock of 45 last weekend against Warwick to the 101 he scored against Rangers the previous week.

Cleveland spinner Del Hollis will playing against his former team-mates but it is attack bowler Albert Simons who will be the main worry for St. David's, having taking 11 wickets in three matches so far at a rate of 7.63. Hamilton Parish have two matches this weekend and after today's make-up clash with Social Club at St. John's field they should take a perfect record to Nationals.

The home team have failed to live up to expectations after last season's accomplishments but with the opening of their defence of their Central Counties title just a month away they will be anxious to get a couple of good wins under their belts.

Somerset Bridge take on Willow Cuts in a west-end derby at White Hill field and one of them could collect their first win of the season after three straight losses by each. Both had good chances to end that losing sequence last weekend but Bridge went down to St. George's and Cuts lost to Flatts in a high-scoring match at Royal Naval field.

Somerset have carried the flag for the west-end teams with two wins from their first three matches and tomorrow they face a tough home match against red-hot Bailey's Bay.

Police should again be favoured over St. George's at Police field, with David Adams set to test the Police batsmen with his flighty spinners. Captain Ferdinand Thorne, Dennis Archer, Tyrone Smith and David Greenidge will lead the Police batting.

Other matches tomorrow see Warwick hosting Flatts at Southampton Oval and Social Club taking on Western Stars at St. John's field.

CLEVIE WADE -- The Southampton all-rounder will be hoping to continue his fine start to the season at Devonshire Rec.
