30-7 thrashing of third-placed Mariners on Sunday.

With their forwards totally dominant throughout the game, Renegades' pack marched over Mariners.

Max Mckin put the Blacks ahead with an unconverted try. Winger Pat Jones added another soon after to make it 10-0.

Mariners were penalised after some strong forward play from forward Danny Forsythe and Richard Willis slotted the resulting penalty through the posts for a 13-0 score at half-time.

Renegades continued their surges during the second half and Willis kicked another penalty which added three more points to his team's total.

Rod Stewart went over in the corner for a converted try for a 23-0 score.

Newcomer David Mutch dragged several other players with him for his first converted try since joining the club this season.

Mariners, however, didn't throw in the towel and Mark Diver went over for a converted try to end the game.

In the second match, Teachers ran all over a considerably weakened Police team that were only able to field 14 players, seven of whom were members of the second XV.

Still, Police were fortunate that a series of poor handling errors -- stand-in captain Alvin Harvey dropped a certain score between the posts -- kept the score from being larger than the final 31-7 tally.

Speedy winger Heath (Rocket) Robinson capitalised on an error early in the first half for a converted try.

Fullback Kevin Harris had two tries, one of which was converted for a 19-0 half-time lead.

Police showed a bit more guts and determination in the second half and skipper Calum Welsh scored a converted try to give the Blues their seven points.

Teachers came right back with two solid trys -- only one was converted -- from Anthony (Church) Cupidor.
