Robin Hood rout Isand Rangers
leaders BAA Wanderers lead with a 3-0 thumping of clue-less Island Rangers on Saturday.
While Wanderers were idle, Hood were anything but stationary as they besieged their opponents, who had been on somewhat of a high in recent weeks.
Tim Perry, Ray Morrison and Mike Newboy shared in the goals for Hood which moved onto 15 points, within three of the leaders, with a mere three matches remaining.
Meanwhile, Forties all but eliminated Spinning Wheel from contention for honours and edged their way out further from the relegation zone through a 1-0 triumph.
Wheel are still mathematically alive, however, their hopes truly died when Richard Bradbury struck the only goal of the game for Forties.
In group B North Village Rams solidified their hold on the top spot through a 6-1 trouncing of newcomers Valley spurred by the heroics of Mike Levon, who blasted home two goals.
Others getting in on the goal-scoring spree for the victors were Garrett Dill, Cornell Castle, John Tucker and Sidney Lee while Troy Sinclair replied for Valley.
The result proved extra satisfying when it was learned that Devonshire Colts All-Stars had failed against mid-table Park United, losing 1-0, all but handing the title to Rams, who have a two point advantage, plus a game in hand.
In other matches, Genesis improved their points total to 13 with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Fire Service as Lamont Stone and Craig Tyrrell were both on target with goals that lifted their team. Sean Grant replied for Service.
The lone remaining match witnessed Lobster Pot administer a thorough 5-2 beating upon St. George's All-Stars at White Hill field where Tony Smith celebrated with a hat-trick and Joe Barboza and Mike Evans added further tallies for the winners.
The lone Alliance Division match has St. George's surprise Group A leaders North Village 4-2 as Darren Walker, Donald Whitfield, Duvall Smith and Gregg Foggo all got on the score-sheet for the east enders and Sheldon Franks and Sean Dill did likewise for the losers.
