Yachting World mentions that Paris, the general manager of Ariel Sands cottage colony, chose designer Scott Jutson to build his vessel for the Around Alone competition.

The 40ft boat is the first designed by Jutson since he built the successful True Blue for the last Around Alone race.

Seahorse magazine is also interested in the fact that Jutson has designed the new boat.

The Around Alone race, which is held every four years, leaves Charleston, South Carolina, in September 2002 and finishes at the same destination in April, 2003.

Paris, 36, quits his job at Ariel Sands at the end of this month to concentrate on the race.

SMITH BANNED SOC Smith banned Southampton Rangers soccer coach Edgar Smith will receive a one-match ban after he was banished from the touchline at the weekend.

Referee Stuart Crockwell instructed the boss of the already-relegated Premier League side to sit in the stands after a first-half altercation in the match against North Village.

Rangers lost the game at Southampton Oval 4-2 and Smith was unhappy with a number of decisions that did not go his team's way.

When Crockwell failed to blow up for a foul on a Rangers player close to the home bench, he was berated by the coach.

The official then held up the game while he went over to tell Smith to retake his seat and remain quiet. When he didn't he was told to leave the pitchside and watch from the stands.
