Sandys Sports Club II, Old Colony Club II, Queens I and Sandys Boat Club all advanced to the semifinals of the Gosling Cup competition with wins during

Lawrence DeSilva, Roger Henderson and First Division player of the week Frankie DeSilva led Sandy's Sports Club to an easy 3-1 triumph over Old Colony Club I.

DeSilva was spectacular, posting a 46-17 victory over highly rated Dave McLean in the decisive frame.

Meanwhile, a closely fought affair ensued between Warwick and Sandys Boat Club. The latter eventually won 3-2 as Peter Bromby and Mike Tatem spurred a come-from-behind victory.

Queens I and Old Colony Club II defeated Spanish Point and Queens II respectively by 3-1 margins.

SOFTBALL SOF Team Fashions scored four runs in the eighth inning, highlighted by Gerald Bean's two-run double, to squeeze by Wildcats 23-21 in a high-scoring Commercial League match on Thursday night at Bernard Park.

The game was deadlocked at 19-19 after seven innings before Fashions snatched victory in the eighth inning. Bean finished the night with three-for-six while Justin Wall had a perfect five-for-five and Alan Barker three-for-five. For the losers, Michael Simmons went two-for-six and Roger Thompson three-for-three.

Bean was the winning pitcher while Barry Mah suffered the loss. Police Club beat Bobcats 18-10 thanks to George Jackson's perfect four-for-four which included two homers and four RBIs and Anthony Mouchette's three-for-three.

Mouchette, who pitched in relief, combined with winning pitcher Kevin Christopher to limit Bobcats to six scattered hits.

Ace Hogs won by default over Prison Officers.
