TABLE TENNIS PP Nick Frost survived a semi-final scare on the way to retaining his Bermuda Closed Table Tennis Championship title at CedarBridge Academy on Saturday.

After seeing off Craig Trott 21-11, 21-12 and Brian Anderson by default, Frost found himself in trouble in the semi-final after opponent Dave Waltham won the opening game 21-15.

But Frost stepped up his level to take the next two games 21-11, 21-13, to book his place in the final.

Frost then swept aside surprise finalist Curtis Hodgson 21-8, 21-16, 21-14 in the best-of-five-games decider.

Fourth seed Hodgson had earlier ousted number one seed Myron Piper in the semi-finals, 21-18, 19-21, 21-19, a major upset and the match of the tournament.

Frost and Waltham defeated Hodgson and Barry Rahman 21-13, 21-10 to win the doubles championship.
