Sherlock survived yesterday's top 40 cut after his second-day round of 76 to go with a 79 on Tuesday for a two-round score of 155. The leader in the 14-to-15 age group has 144.

Another local player, David James, is also competing in the 14-to-15 age group. He shot a 96 on Tuesday and then improved to an 88 yesterday, but he did not survive the cut.

Some 92 youngsters are competing in the Bermudians' age category and there are about 500 youngsters in the three age groups all told.

Sherlock and James, who are due to return to Bermuda tomorrow, had their trip sponsored by the Four Clubs (Bailey's Bay, Mid Atlantic Boat Club, Village Room and Ocean View Golf Club members).
