Sims earns first title in match play final

during the final day's play at Riddell's Bay in the Bermuda Junior Golf Association Match Play Championships.

In the final of the championship flight Sims and Andrew Trott produced a fierce battle that saw Sims eventually triumph two and one over 36 holes.

Both juniors played well under difficult conditions, but Trott could not catch up Sims' two hole lead after the first 18 and eventually conceded on the 35th hole.

However, each put up a solid showing in almost gale force conditions.

"It was the first tournament I've ever won and it feels good ... I hope it happens more often,'' said a jubilant Sims afterwards. "It was windy, so it was kind of hard, but the first round was okay and I came through two up.

"You had to work with the wind and keep the ball low out of the wind when you needed. And you couldn't get frustrated, because something was bound to happen.'' Sims will travel back to Florida next month where he is a member of the St.

Andrews school team in Boca Raton, Florida.
