Soccer coach offers S.American flavour
Falopa next month have been designed to give locals a rare chance to learn more about the South American approach to the sport.
And in a continuing effort to improve the overall development of soccer, Bermuda Football Association are urging youth coaches and those who teach physical education in the schools to take full advantage of the course which will be staged at Bermuda College campus from June 17-21.
General Secretary of the BFA, David Sabir, said yesterday there remained space available and that interested persons should contact the BFA office by this weekend.
"We are approaching 20 coaches, but we would really like to sell out the course by accommodating as many as 30 people,'' said Sabir. "There are still a number of clubs who have not responded. We are urging them to get their youth coaches involved and any senior coaches they may have who will in turn be looking to guide their youth coaches.
"The BFA would like to see as many people as possible come out and learn from a coach from a different region. He is a technically sound CONCACAF coach who is uniquely qualified to teach all phases of the game of soccer.
"Our coaches have been continually asking for more tutoring in the field of coaching and the BFA have taken the initiative and opened the door for this privilege. Now that he has been lined up, we are expecting that they honour their part and come out and participate. The course is going to be very enlightening, very intense. We plan to continue on with a series of coaching programmes and hopefully, in time, we will be able to go on to the level two and three courses.'' Bermuda is just one of several countries in the CONCACAF region that Falopa is visiting.
"We are reminding people that although the entry deadline has passed, there are still places available,'' added Sabir.
