Somerset Old Boys to a whopping seven-wicket victory over their Harris Bay

Scores: Harris Bay 192, Somerset 196-3 The result was a blow to cup holders Harris Bay who must have been comfortable with their respectable total, thanks to Monroe Darrell's 49, Dennis Musson's 32 and skipper Lionel Darrell's 22.

Taking wickets in addition to Brangman for Somerset were Reggie Tucker with three for 63 and Aaron Sabir with two for 19.

While Roberts spearheaded the west enders in their fightback, Jerry-Lynn Simons followed with 47, Reggie Tucker contributed an undefeated 34 while Sabir struck 11.

Gilbert Wainwright led Harris Bay bowlers with two for 44 while Larry Smith took one for 34.

SNOOKER SNO The Bermuda Snooker Association will start its new league season on September 25 when play gets underway in the Second Division with nine teams participating.

The First Division will follow on October 9 with six teams involved, including two from Old Colony Club and one each from Warwick Workmen's Club, Queens, Watford Sports Club (formerly Sandys Sports Club) and newly promoted Police Recreation Club.

The Second Division headed by three teams from OCC, two from St. George's Dinghy and Sports Club and one team each from Queens Club, Watford Sports Club, Nationals Sports Club and Spanish Point Boat Club.

Meanwhile the association's recent AGM saw the following executives elected: Paul Charleton, president; Steven Pantry, vice president; Bobby Miller, secretary; David Lampit, treasurer. The Committee includes Greg Falzone, Ed Gumbs, Richard Davis, Grant Tomkins GOLF GLF Bermuda Golf Association (BGA) members are reminded that the next medal play competition will take place at St. George's Golf Club next Saturday 14.

Entries should be phoned in to the BGA secretary (238-1367) before 6.00 p.m.

on Tuesday, September 10.

Meanwhile, those seeking to enter the Bermuda Open, scheduled for October 19 at Port Royal Golf Course, are reminded that the closing date for entries is Tuesday, September 24.

Entries for the Open must be made by delivery of completed entry forms, together with the entry fee, to the BGA secretary at P.O. Box HM 433, Hamilton HMBX.

SOCCER SOC The annual soccer match between Exiles (Cable & Wireless) and North Village Rams will take place on Wednesday at Bernard Park, starting at 5.15 p.m.
