Sterritt outsprinted Aaron Schindler to win last year but will face stiff competition from Kris Hedges, the in-form youngster looking to add another national title to the Time Trial Championships he won last weekend.

Sixty riders in all are expected to make the line for the 9.00 a.m. start, with MacInnis Looby the only doubt among the Island's top riders. He was expected to be back from Jamaica earlier in the week following his bronze medal win in the Small Countries World Championships in Cuba, but no entry has been received.

The riders will compete over a 20 lap course totalling 65 miles.

SCHOOL ATHLETES HONOURED AWD ATH School athletes honoured Middle school athletes will be honoured for the first time in this year's Denton Hurdle Memorial Awards, bringing the total number of awards to six.

The awards, in memory of the late Denton Hurdle, a former physical education teacher at Warwick Acadamy, are given in recognition of a number of positive qualities such as leadership, sportsmanship and dedication. The presentations will take place at 10.00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 23, at the Belmont Hotel.

LOCAL ANGLERS OUT IN FORCE FSH Local anglers out in force An increased field of anglers will take part in this year's Bacardi Rum Angling tournament set for tomorrow.

A total of 322, 70 more than in 1997, will set out on 70 boats when the event gets underway at 8.00 a.m. Each boat is only able to weigh in their best five fish and individual anglers their top three.
