Tennis players doing well
Junior Open as Jovan Whitter came awfully close to beating number one seed Michael Ward in the boys 14 main draw singles before going down 6-4, 4-6, 1-6.
The good news is that Bermuda have quarter-finalists in each of the main draw doubles events with Whitter and John Wardman winning twice to meet number one seeds Campbell and Medica in the boys 14s. Zarah DeSilva and Danielle Downey also won twice to advance to meet third seeds Lask and Lask in the girls 14s.
Gavin Manders and his Atlanta partner Michael Tyson won 7-6, 7-6 to reach the quarter-finals in boys 12s and Sasha Fisher, with partner Payten Ellington of Atlanta, went through to the quarter-finals in girls 12s.
In consolation events, Bermuda have five players still alive in competition.
Sasha Fisher plays sister Kara in the girls 12 semi-final with Zoe Fisher in the other semi-final. John Masters and Jovan Whitter play in the semi-finals in boys 12 and 14s.
