The annual Mid-Ocean News Wahoo Tournament, due to be held at the weekend, was called off and postponed until next Sunday. But it was a close call for

"It was a fine line being going ahead and calling it off,'' said Smith yesterday. "I spoke to Harbour Radio at 5.00 a.m. on Sunday and they were predicting seas of up to 10 feet, reducing later. I decided to call it off.'' More than 300 anglers registered for the event but next Sunday's tournament will now be thrown open to all.

If the waters next Sunday are again too rough the tournament will be postponed until September 29.

FOOTBALL SOC Are you ready for some football? Two Bermuda men are -- and are looking for competition in their NFL Sony Playstation Football League.

Delton White and Dwayne Roach are starting a weekly tournament for the popular software game, culminating with a Super Bowl for the top players at Spanish Point Boat Club.

Both "huge'' NFL fans, the two entrepreneurs have access to four Playstations that will be used simultaneously on Sundays. For a $100 entry fee, the pair are offering cash prizes, gift certificates and a trophy to the best players.
