The seventh and final race in the BTFA/Minute Maid junior cross country series doubled as the National Cross Country Championships at a windswept Ferry Point
Laura Turner swept the secondary girls division with another victory -- her fifth in seven races -- that gave her both titles easily.
Last year's national champion Emily Ferguson, who had returned from school overseas to defend her title, placed second with Patrina Swan third.
The final series standings had Turner ahead of Suella Matthews and Velvet Smith.
Among the secondary boys Collin Anderson continued his domination of the field with his sixth straight win although challenged by Garon Wilkinson throughout.
Wilkinson placed second followed by Mark Constable.
Anderson was first in the series, ahead of Kris Hedges and Ki-Jah Butterfield.
In the primary girls Akila Mills became the national champion with her win over Shimika Telford and Emma Rego, although her victory on Saturday was not enough to displace Rego from the series leadership.
Mills was second in the series followed by Claire Kimbel and Shimika Telford, who tied for third.
Boys champion Kemar Curtis doubled up, winning the race and series, beating Giles Spurling and Matthew Trott on the day. Richard Walcott and Spurling were second and third in the series.
ROAD RACING RUN Entry forms are out for the next road race on the calendar and the first of 1995 -- the annual Princess to Princess Race.
Now in its 18th year, the event represents the third race of this season's KPMG Peat Marwick road racing series.
Scheduled for January 8 (9.30 a.m.), the 7.2 mile event will as usual start at the Hamilton Princess and finish at the Southampton Princess, runners making their way to the line via Front Street, Harbour Road, Middle Road and over the gruelling Princess hill to Whaler Inn.
Race Director Newton Adcock is again expecting a big entry, including overseas runners who will be on the Island for the following week's International Race Weekend.
Entries close on January 6.
CYCLING CYC Bermuda Bicycling Association, in an effort to attract more members, are organising a fun mountain bike rally on January 2 at Astwood Cove Park, starting at 2.00 p.m.
The Association are hoping the rally will bring out cyclists who normally don't compete in their races and time trials.
On schedule are five events including cross country for seniors, juniors and kids. A senior `Up and Down Hill' race is also on the programme as well as a "40lb Tube Change Time Trial''.
Organiser Donald Cave said the emphasis would be on `fun' with the hope that more events involving mountain bikes could be added to the BBA calendar.
