There's no stopping the hungry Cougars

Devonshire Cougars finished the first half of the season undefeated with a three-point cushion at the head of the Daihatsu Second Division after defeating second-placed BAA 3-0 yesterday.

Playing away from the friendly confines of the Den, Cougars still drew first blood as Wali Salaam opened the scoring in the first half and his side held onto that slim advantage until the interval.

The lead was doubled after the break as Dale Russell had his penalty kick blocked by the Green Knights' goalkeeper, but was successful in following up to put home the rebound.

Salaam was called on to take a spot-kick handed out during the latter stages and duly put the ball away to account for the total margin of victory.

Paget 0, Hamilton Parish 4 Home side Paget were successful in holding off Hamilton Parish for more than 45 minutes, but could do nothing against a second-half onslaught by the visitors, eventually going down 4-0.

Antwon Darrell led the goal rush for Parish, notching two strikes, aided by one apiece from college student Corey Hill and Shane Burgess.

The result enabled Parish to leap one place from seventh to sixth, while Paget remain anchored at the foot of the tables with two points from eight matches.

Prospect 0, Som. Eagles 2 Somerset Eagles warmed up for next week's FA Cup first round with a solid 2-0 thumping of heated rivals Prospect.

Everett Wellman and Terrence Christopher laid waste to the home side with goals on either side of the interval, making it a worthwhile trip to the central parish.

Wellman notched his goal after just 17 minutes while Christopher made certain of the two points with a strike seven minutes from time.

Prospect's goalkeeper Kuhn Evans was given his marching orders by referee Stuart Crockwell in the 33rd minute for a foul on Wellman.

He was replaced in goal by Andrew Bissell, but the home side could not adequately adjust to playing a man short.

Eagles are preparing for a battle against Commercial Division giant-killers Exiles.

Wolves 1, Social Club 1 Unpredictable Wolves continued on their first-half roller-coaster ride as they struggled to a 1-1 draw with lowly Social Club.

Veteran Dion Wainwright saved their blushes at home when he converted five minutes from time to avert a loss after George Liburd had scored 10 minutes earlier to put Social Club ahead.
