Three of Bermuda's top junior riders flew to Trinidad this week for two days of competition in show jumping against the host nation as well as Jamaica and

The event represents the fourth round of this year's Caribbean Equestrian Association Junior Jumping Competition.

Horses are provided by the host nation with the visiting riders only having a short time to get used to their allotted mount.

Bermuda will be represented by 15-year-old Hailey Doyles and Heather McKirdy, also 15, who will compete in the horse division. Twelve year-old Tonae Tavares will be in the pony division.

Bermuda currently lie fourth in the five-nation event which also includes Antigua.

Each country hosts one round with the final slated for Jamaica in November.

Coach Abby Bardgett is accompanying the Island trio, all of whom will be competing abroad for the first time.

TRIATHLON TRI Bermuda's largest single-day junior triathlon, the Capital G Iron Kids, is slated for Saturday, June 16, at Clearwater Beach, starting at 3.00 p.m.

Entry forms are available at Capital G, Winners Edge and Sportseller with registration costing $10.

As usual the event will put an accent on fun with a number of special prizes on offer, including a Gateway computer for a school team with a minimum of eight entrants.

Both newcomers and experienced triathletes are invited to compete over courses which will vary in difficulty.

MARTIAL ARTS MAT Bermuda martial arts expert Arnold Allen was recently certified as the official representative for Sanuces Ryu Jiu Jitsu for the Caribbean region.

Allen was presented with the honour by founder and father of Sanuces, Moses Powell, during a seminar held at Dellwood Middle School.

Also in attendance at the ceremony was Charles Allen, executive director of Sanuces Ryu Jiu Jitsu.
