Top two in match of the day
sides, PHC and Devonshire Colts, clash tomorrow at Somerset.
Leaders PHC go into the clash with 16 points, three clear of second-placed Colts who have played a game less, but the Zebras must stretch their unbeaten league sequence to seven matches to prevent Colts from taking over at the top.
Both sides should be oozing confidence, following impressive victories last weekend.
Colts thrashed Boulevard 5-1, thanks in part to a hat-trick from `Supersub' Marvin Belboda, who said after his match-winning display that he expected to be back on the bench at kick-off time tomorrow.
PHC consigned champions Vasco to their first defeat of the season, with McLee Smith scoring the late clincher in a 2-1 victory.
Vasco will look to get back to winning ways at St. John's Field where they come up against the inconsistent Dandy Town.
The Portuguese club remain a strong outfit despite the drastic down-sizing of their playing squad in the summer and have won three of their five matches.
But Town, their Martonmere Cup success aside, are playing considerably below their potential and have won just once in six League outings. Last week, there was little sign of improvement as Mark Trott's men could only muster a 1-1 draw against basement club St. David's.
At Southampton Oval, North Village look set for a real test against resurgent Southampton Rangers.
After losing their opening four league games, Rangers have gone four league and cup games unbeaten. Last weekend they scraped a 1-1 draw against Wolves with a late equaliser from Craig Darrell, but their 5-1 FA Cup win against Boulevard and their 3-0 triumph at Dandy Town suggested they have turned the corner, though they remain second from bottom of the league.
Village's scrappy 1-0 win against Somerset last weekend was typical of their inconsistent season so far, but victory tomorrow would keep them in touch with the leaders.
St. David's will continue their quest for a first league win of the season when Somerset visit the east end club.
Mid-table Trojans will be confident of returning home with all three points, particularly with St. David's still recovering from the shock of a 7-0 midweek mauling by Wolves in the Friendship Trophy.
In the First Division, Ireland Rangers play Hamilton Parish at Malabar, while Prospect play Social Club at Police Field and Somerset Eagles face Paget at White Hill Field.
