Towlson header seals Hood victory
on Saturday, beating Vasco Mariners 2-1 as Paul Towlson scored the clincher with a header.
Former champions BAA Wanderers joined Robin Hood on six points with an 8-0 thrashing of Prison Officers as Dean McIntyre netted a hat-trick and Thomas Gribben scored twice.
Other goals came from Dave Lawler, Martin Jones and Paul Nicholson as Wanderers added five in the second half.
Fire Service, beaten by Hood last weekend, slipped to another narrow defeat when Lobster Pot beat them 2-1. Chris Eaton opened the scoring in the 44th minute and Jim McClaren got the second in the 66th before Kenneth Bartrum pulled one back for the firemen in the 71st.
PHC Raiders, 7-3 winners over Exiles in their season opener, were brought back down to earth by North Village Rams who picked up their first win with a 3-1 result.
Stevie Dickinson opened the scoring and Ralph (Gumbo) Bean added two more, including a penalty. Keith Bell had given Raiders the lead.
In the other match Exiles bounced back from an opening day thrashing to beat MR Onions 2-1. Alan Johnson put Exiles in front in the 52nd minute before Keith Donald equalised in the 70th.
Craig Tyrrell netted the winner from the penalty spot two minutes later as Christopher Fleming was ejected for swearing as he protested the penalty.
Three of the five B Division matches were defaulted. Belco failed to show for their game against Wolves Pack while Somerset Eagles showed up with the minimum required seven men but failed to change for their encounter with Tuff Dogs at Berkeley Field.
Valley were awarded the points against Cleveland on Friday after they failed to register sufficient players.
In the two matches that went ahead, St. George's All-Stars edged Bermuda Pest Control 3-2 and All-Stars beat Lions 2-1 in a clash of two Devonshire teams.
Charles Wade, Cal Rayner and Andre Tweed netted for St. George's in the first half before 10-man Pest Control replied with a goal in each half through K.Francis and J.Braithwaite.
Jeff Richardson and Germano Bothelho scored second half goals as Devonshire All-Stars beat Devonshire Lions. Kenneth O'Connor scored for Lions who had Kevin Hodgson sent off for a second bookable offence.
