Triathlete Kent Richardson had even more reason to smile after his impressive showing in the Pan American Championships in Florida last week.
The Bermudian came in second behind American Mark Jacobs in the 40 to 44 age group over an Olympic course at Clairmont.
Richardson was pleased with his finish achieved in a time of 2:15.11 but even better news was to come several days after the event. An eagle-eyed course official had spotted Jacobs significantly cut the course on the bike ride and he was placed on the disqualified list.
Organisers upheld the decision and Jacobs was pushed down to third, with Richardson being elevated to first. "I was very happy. I put in some really hard work and I'm reaping the rewards,'' said Richardson.
