Troy makes ring return
no case of mindless mayhem.
Rather the evening presented an organised flurry, with a seven-match boxing card dubbed the `Tough Man Bouts', put on by Second Wind Productions.
Several exciting contests unfurled and the night even witnessed a return to the ring by former professional Troy Darrell, who staged an impromptu exhibition against John Philpott and Jerome Caines.
The fight of the night came in the middleweight category, where Trace Easton defeated newcomer Jomar Caines.
Other bouts saw Jeff Richardson defeat Marvin Babon, Malike Blyden stop Kevin Burgess, Azeem Pitcher get past veteran Dean Liburd, Kevin Smith defeat Yusef Richards, and Freeman Smith dismantle Leo Smith.
"The fights were hard fought and intense and things went really well,'' said promoter Leon Raynor Sr. "We were pleased with the support of the participating boxing gyms and the quality of the fights were surprising as many of the fighters were making their second or third appearance.'' Special presentations were made to Vic Richmond and Kenny Simmons for their contributions to the sport of amateur boxing in Bermuda.
Meanwhile, negotiations are underway for `Tough Men Bouts II' to take place on May 26 and feature at least one female bout and four international matches.
