UK trials secured for jilted trio
still have a chance to make it at the professional level.
Yesterday Mark Trott, who was responsible for lining up the original trials for Meshach Wade, Kentoine Jennings and Kyle Lightbourne, confirmed that he had negotiated new trials for the trio this summer with other English clubs whose names he did not wish to reveal at this stage.
It was also possible according to Trott that a fourth player, David Bascome, could also travel to England for trials.
Defenders Wade and Jennings were released by Third Division Hereford United two months ago while Lightbourne has just returned home after Scarborough released him last week.
"I am very pleased to announce that trials have been arranged in England for Wade and Jennings with a Premier League club beginning on July 5. It will be for a two-week period after which time the clubs will evaluate whether to keep them on or recommend them to another club,'' said Trott.
Lightbourne has an option of joining two teams for trials in July, one in the First Division and another in the Second Division. And there is a strong possibility that information will reach Bermuda shortly about whether First Division Portsmouth will be offering him trials as well.
Shawn Goater made his first-team return for Rotherham on Saturday when he came on as a substitute in the last 20 minutes of a 2-0 home loss to West Bromwich after missing several games through injury.
