Kim Swan seven-and-six in yesterday's semi-final of the Bermuda PGA Match Play Championships.

And though Eardley Jones had to go the distance to twice come from behind and beat Steven DeCosta, the veteran player has vowed that defending champion Pearman will not have things his own way in today's final.

"Dwayne's my ace boy, he's a hard man, but I'm going to try my best and he just better be careful and not slip too much,'' warned Jones, a senior player who, at the very least, has experience over the man many rate as the Island's top golfer.

"I'll give him a game, that's for sure,'' says Jones, seeking his first match play title in the $3,000 event.

Yesterday he gave another one of the youngsters -- Stephen DeCosta -- a lesson as he came from behind early and late to beat him with a 30-foot birdie on the 18th hole.

"I had a real tough game out there,'' admitted Jones, who was three down by the fourth hole after DeCosta won the second, third and fourth.

Jones birdied the fifth and got back to two down, a score that remained until the ninth, when he eagled the par four after just missing a hole-in-one by three feet off his drive. That put him one down and he got back even on the tenth.

DeCosta won the 14th and 15th to go back in front... seemingly to stay.

However, Jones would not accept defeat and in the last three holes he pulled out a dramatic victory.

"That gives me some momentum, I've been playing really good,'' said a confident Jones.

Jones expects Pearman to bring the best out of him today. "This is some of all that experience coming back out,'' he said.

Jones has been runner-up in this tournanent on a couple of occasions, though he has won the strokeplay title about five times.

Swan takes on DeCosta for third place later today.
