Bermuda Junior Golf Association's Match Play Championships yesterday at Riddell's Bay.

Evershed, of Sudbury, Ontario, defeated Bermuda's Craig Brown three and one after the pair had entered the second round of their 36-hole final all square.

"I was four-up after the first nine (on the second 18) but then Craig came back and gave me a good game and I was sort of scared,'' said the 14-year-old Evershed who also competed in the recent Fecchio Cup in which he placed fourth in the under 16 division. Brown won the over 16 division of that tournament.

"I thought he was going to beat me for a second,'' admitted four handicapper Evershed after yesterday's final. "He brought it back to two-up, he's a good player.'' In the championship consolation flight final, Shaun Wade defeated David James two-and-one while the first flight was won by BJ Payne who had a four-and-three triumph over Richard Fulton.

Chris Tully chipped in for a birdie on the 18th to win the first flight consolation over Dwayne Simons one-up while the second flight was won by Jeremy Drover who beat Nigel Swain six-and-five.

In the White Tees Championships (for 12 and under players) Aaron James defeated Chris Smith five-and-four while Mark Robinson was the consolation winner, one-up over Gil Evershed.

Anthony Smith got by Daysha Haxton three-and-two to take the first flight.
