Colts and Somerset Trojans are finally set to do battle in the Friendship Trophy.

The teams clash at Devonshire Rec. tonight (9 p.m.) after their tie, originally scheduled for January 9, had to be postponed.

Field operators called the match off after a downpour, but the omens look much better for this evening.

As the league tables stand Colts find themselves three places and five points ahead of the Trojans.

Since the game was first supposed to be played, Somerset have slipped a place to sixth.

But as is often said cup matches are a great leveller and Norbert Simons' crew will be anxious to get one over their old foes.

The coach said before the original game: "With the old rivalry between Somerset and Devonshire Colts it is always going to be a challenge. There is a lot of history between these two teams. Colts have had the better of us for all of this season so we are expecting it to be another hard-fought match.'' Colts have not had a game for some time after the weather once again intervened before one of their matches last week. They were due to face Southampton Rangers in an FA Cup double-header at Somerset Cricket Club last Tuesday but once again the heavens opened and the match was called off.

The BFA have yet to announce a new date for that tie and that of PHC and Social Club.

Tonight's other match features St David's and Hamilton Parish in the Shield (7 p.m.).

Parish are sixth in the First Division standings while St David's lie fourth, fully nine points clear of their opponents.

Parish drew 3-3 with Social Club at the weekend and St David's won 3-0 at bottom-placed Boulevard.
