Wanderers win sets up thrilling league finale

been decided, along with one of the relegation places, the title race in the A Division looks certain to go right down to the final match.

Brian Crook set up that intriguing scenario with a last-minute winner for former champions BAA Wanderers against Lobster Pot on Saturday.

Crook netted in the 89th minute to give Wanderers a 2-1 win which not only puts them three points clear of third-placed Pot but more importantly keeps them two points behind leaders Robin Hood, with two games remaining.

And the title race is far from over as Hood face Lobster Pot in their next outing before meeting Wanderers in the final match, while Wanderers meet Vasco Mariners in their next outing.

Troy Berkeley had given Lobster Pot the lead against Wanderers on Saturday with a 31st minute goal. But Wanderers fought back to clinch the points when Dave Lawler equalised in the 53rd minute and Crook netted the winner in the closing moments.

Robin Hood kept their grip on first place with a 7-0 rout of PHC Raiders. Alex McLaughlin led the scoring with a hat-trick, netting in the 58th, 87th and 89th minutes, while Paul Towlson added two in the second and 44th minutes.

Paul Scope and Alan Mooney added single strikes in the 60th and 62nd minutes.

Prison Officers beat Exiles 4-3 in a bottom of the table clash which doomed Exiles to relegation while keeping alive Prison Officers' hopes of catching PHC whom they now trail by just four points with three games remaining.

Millard Rawlins, Charlie Fox, M.Trott and Dennis Leader scored for the Officers while Martin Siese, Alan Johnson and Derek Young replied for Exiles.

MR Onions moved two places up the table to fourth with a 3-0 win over Vasco Mariners. Vasco's Joe Cunha started the scoring with an own goal in the 35th minute before substitute Bill Spencer and Gary Knight extended the lead in the 73rd and 87th minutes.

Onions moved ahead of Fire Service and North Village whose match at Police Field was not played because the pitch wasn't prepared.

Tuff Dogs and Devonshire All-Stars made certain of promotion from the B Division with 4-1 wins on Saturday. Tuff Dogs, in their first season in the league, needed two late goals to beat a seven-man Valley team while All-Stars got by third-placed St. George's All-Stars thanks to a Clevie Wade hat-trick and one from James Tweed. Dale Thompson replied for St. George's.

Wolves beat nine-man Devonshire Lions 4-2 with all the goals coming in the second half. Casey Burgess scored a hat-trick while Daniel Stovell got the other Wolves goal as Germaine Burt and Ernest McCallan replied for the Lions.

Somerset Extros were comfortable 7-3 winners over Bermuda Pest Control as Mike Corday netted a hat-trick, including his second and third goals in the final three minutes of the game.

G.Outerbridge scored twice and L.Dill and Everett Wellman one each for the West Enders. K.Francis (2) and A.Francis replied for Pest Control.
