the Semaine Olympique Francaise regatta ended a day early.

Lack of wind meant there was no sailing yesterday and so Thursday's standings stood as final.

Wright, sailing in the Europe Class, improved on her results earlier in the week to finish 37th.

Her chances of success were severely dented by a leak on her boat which took four days to spot.

Wright's vessel had apparently been damaged en route to the event in Hyeres and one of her side tanks was taking on water without her knowledge.

However, she will be looking to put all that behind her next week when she takes part in International Race Week on home waters.

HEAT COACH HONOURED SOC Heat coach honoured Richard Chinapoo, who as head coach of indoor soccer team Harrisburg Heat, has Bermudians Meshach Wade and David Bascome among his charges, has been named the National Professional Soccer League's 2000-1 Coach of the Year.

Chinapoo oversaw a worst-to-first turnaround for the Heat this season, taking a team which finished 16-28 last year to a 24-16 record and the American Conference regular season title.

"It's tremendous to be recognised by your peers,'' said Chinapoo. "Now I have to use this to build on towards our ultimate goal, which is winning an NPSL championship.''
