in the CONCACAF Youth Tournament against the United States tomorrow in Kelowna, British Columbia.

Coach Robert Calderon, who took over from Carlton (Pepe) Dill three weeks ago, is looking at employing a five-man defence and then adjusting depending on how the opposition plays.

"The US will probably be very physical,'' Calderon said yesterday from Kelowna. "If we get a point from the US we could be in good shape because Trinidad can be beaten.'' Bermuda are paired in group C with the United States, Trinidad and Tobago and Costa Rica, who Calderon expects to be the most skillful. There are 12 teams competing in this tournament with the three group winners and the best second-place team advancing to the second round (round robin) in Vancouver.

The top two teams will advance to the 1993 World Under-20 Championships in Australia.

The Bermuda team were put through their paces in a training session yesterday afternoon in a bid to familiarise themselves with the conditions before tomorrow's match, which starts at 7 p.m. Bermuda time. The training ground and the playing fields are all within about 300 yards of the team's hotel. deron.

"We'll be working on some of the things that we've been working on in Bermuda,'' Calderon said. "What I want to make sure is that we're defensively sound and if they (US) are not as good as they can be we can then become offence oriented.'' Bermuda, captained by PHC's Stanton Lewis, play their second match against Costa Rica on Tuesday before completing their group competition against Trinidad and Tobago next Thursday. The last two matches will be played in the early evening (6 p.m. local time, 10 p.m. Bda.) and if the weather is cooler Calderon thinks it could benefit the Bermuda side.

"What Costa Rica did in the World Cup tells you there is a lot of talent there,'' the Bermuda coach said. "We don't want to short change ourselves, we'll just find out what level we can play and build on that.'' Bermuda, who will be led in attack by PHC's Otis Steede and Quincey Aberdeen of Devonshire Colts and will have another Colts player, Keishon Smith in defence, will be boosted by the inclusion of college players Eugene Dean and Khari Sharieff.
